   Because if they bought out viacom, you'd have everyone suing google so google will just buy them.
   
   You put up movie files on youtube "Fenton's fantastic pies, they are AWESOME! EVERYONE LOVES MY PIESS!!!!!" and then you send an email to google via your lawyer "someone put my ads of my pies on youtube, I want cash now". Suddenly its no longer "Fenton's fantastic pies" its "Google's fantastic pies" and a picture of me lying on a bed made from money folded just right...... thats a great idea!!!1
